New Site Theme

I’ve created a new colour scheme/theme for the Black Lab Games site. The site is still very light on for content, but that’s because I don’t have much to say yet. That will change in good time.

I’m still undecided on what I want to use for a logo. The blocky ‘b’ is ok, but I’m not sure it portrays the image of digital games company. Much pondering to do…

Thoughts?

An immature person (unlike myself) may think that the “b” logo looks a little… rude. :P

Aside from that it looks neo-retro + web-developerish. Which may or may not suit depending on what you are going for.

My suggestion: maybe some sort of round beaker with a flame underneath. It says “something hot is bubbling away in the black games lab”.

  2. Hey Nick, thanks for the comment!

You know, I’ve had a beaker type thing in mind for a while. Now that I have some external validation, I think I’ll explore that idea some. Awesome.

No offence, but maybe finishing the game is more important than worrying about the website theme? Otherwise why would anyone go to the website today?
    dont hate me :P

  4. Hey ToWeR,

    Excellent question. Let me explain.

If a developer finishes a game, *then* starts to think about how to attract customers, they will very probably fail. To have a chance of success, you need to be thinking about promoting the game from the start, and part of the promotion is the website.

Presently there is not much reason to visit the site, very true, but as the game gets more complete, I’ll be adding video and screenshots and stuff, and there will be a reason to visit the site. I think it would be preferably to have the site looking nice before I start attracting potential players, not afterwards, when they have a bad impression of the game and company producing it.

    :)
